Carol Sternal

Owner/Director

Miss Carol has been in the Early Childhood Education field for over 30 years. She was a teacher for over 20 years before she became director and owner. Miss Carol has a passion for education and a true love for every child that enters the doors of Cherished Children. She has a Master's Degree in Early Childhood and has dedicated her life to the growth and education of children and families. She has created a center that is child-focused and family-friendly.

Miss Carol takes care of her aging father when not working and in her spare time likes taking her grandkids on adventures, reading, gardening and

being involved with her church.

Miss Janice

Discoverer/AM State Pre K Teacher/Administrator

Miss Janice started teaching while Cherished Children was still the Nazarene Nursery School. She has been working for Miss Carol for over 25 years! She has worked with all age groups and is currently in the 4-5 year old class. She has her CDA and almost 20 ECE college hours. Miss Janice's long time dedication and hard work has beeninvaluable to the growth of Cherished Children.

Miss Janice is the mother of 1 and the grandmother of 2. When she's not spending time with the Cherished Children kids, she is spending time with her grandkids.

Miss Deb D.

Adventurer/AM State Pre K Teacher/Administator

Miss Deb has committed her life to teaching. She has been a part of the Cherished Children family for 21 years and has spent the last several years getting her type 04 Teaching Certificate, as well as, a B.A. in Early Childhood. We are so proud of Miss Deb's accomplishments! We have seen Miss Deb go through many difficult circumstances in her life and she has always kept a positive, upbeat attitude and a great faith in God. She is someone that always tries to encourage the children and staff. We are so blessed to have her as part of our teaching team.  

Miss Sharon

Kitchen Captain

Miss Sharon has been with Cherished Children for 4 years. We love having her on staff because is a hardworking, thoughtful, warm-hearted woman. She does an amazing job keeping all the allergy and special dietary restrictions straight, as well as, keeping the kitchen sparkling and the staff happy. None of which is an easy task!

Miss Sharon loves being on staff because she enjoys being a part of the children's daily life. She thinks the children are full of surprises and she loves the smiles on their faces every day.

Miss Yasmin

Infant/Tippy Tot Assistant

Miss Yasmin has been at Cherished Children for 2 years and has 5 years of Early Childhood experience. She is a calm and loving teacher, always treating the children in her care as she would treat her own children. She loves making the children happy and watching them grow and learn. Her top priority while at work is to make sure the children are happy and safe. We appreciate Miss Yasmin's great communication skills and her willingness to help out whenever she can.

Miss Vicki

Infant Teacher

Miss Vicki has been sharing her laughter and fun-loving personality with the Cherished Children family for over 7 years. We have appreciated her smile, her flexibilty and her willingness to help out whenever she can. She loves working with kids beacuse "it is never boring and there is always something new to learn". Miss Vicki has her CDA and a number of hours in Early Childhood Education and Nursing - her long term goal is to be a nurse, but if we have anything to do with it she'll stay right here at Cherished Children.

Miss Vicki has 3 children and 1 grandson and continues to take college classes when she can.   

Miss Nancy

Infant Assistant

Miss Nancy has been at Cherished Children for 2 years. She is at the end of the process towards earning her CDA. She gives 100% of herself everyday. She is flexible, hardworking and helpful. She loves her job because it allows her to experience her own children's lives while being a part of other children's lives. She is loved by the babies, the parents and her co-workers. She is a wonderful addition to the Cherished Children family.

Miss MeDong

Munchkin Teacher

Miss MeDong (or MiMi as the kids say) has been at Cherished Children for 18 years. She has a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts and has taken various Early Childhood classes over the years. Miss MeDong feels that children are her inspiration. She is wonderful at creating new and interesting ways to introduce new concepts to the children in fun and interesting ways. She keeps her toddlers busy and involved. She enjoys singing and dancing with the children and feels she will always be young because the children keep her so active. We hope that that is true, because we need Miss MeDong to be around for many, many more years!

When asked why she worked with children Miss MeDong gave us this quote:

"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." (Matt 18:3) 

Miss Ashlie

Tippy Tot Teacher

Miss Ashlie has been with Cherished Children for 7 years. Her creativity and energy keep our two year olds busy and excited. She loves exploring and learning with the children through dress up, art, and sensory play. She has helped create an interesting and challenging environment where her two year olds can reach milestones and accomplish goals. She says "One smile, hug or word make my day!"

Miss Erika

Tippy Tot Assistant

Miss Erika has been in Early Childhood for 9 years and at Cherished Children for 5 years. She loves being a role model to the children and seeing them learn new things everyday. Miss Erika is patient and loving. We appreciate her easy going personality and her beautiful smile. We are happy to have her as part of the Cherished Children teaching team.

Miss Gaby

Adventurer/State Pre K/Camper Teacher

Miss Gaby has been at Cherished Children for 7 years. She is creative, friendly and has a great attitude. She loves teaching the children new things and creating different experiences for them. She is a talented bi-lingual teacher and loves teaching Spanish words to the kids. She is wonderful at interacting with the children and creating strong bonds with the parents and the children. We are happy to have her as part of the Cherished Children family! 

Mr. Jeff

Discoverer/State Pre K Teacher

Mr. Jeff has been with Cherished Children for over 10 years. He has a Type 04 Teaching Certificate as well as a B.S. in Geography. He has a great love for math and science and incorporates that into his daily lesson plans. Mr. Jeff enjoys hearing children's perspectives and has a wonderful ability to create lasting and positive relationships with children. He considers the children and staff at Cherished Children his extended family. He is married (see Miss Robin) with 3 children and a member of Mensa.

Miss Debbie E.

Explorer Teacher

Miss Debbie has been with Cherished Children for 18 years. She is an amazing teacher that comes in everyday ready for a new adventure. She is the kind of teacher that is able to develop good, strong relationships with the kids in her class because she is a good listener and really makes the children feel valued. She loves being able to get kids ready for kindergarten and  watching her Explorers gain confidence and understanding as they progress through her class. We are so blessed to have Miss Debbie as a part of our staff.

Miss Bev

Explorer Teacher

Miss Bev has been in early childhood for 27 years and has been at Cherished Children for 17 years! She has a Bachelor of Science, a CDA and has taken a slew of ECE classes. Miss Bev's dedication to Cherished Children and the children in her classroom is unbelievable. She puts her full heart into her job and her classroom reflects it. She has helped to create a learning environment for her 4-5 year olds that is challenging, exciting, and encouraging. She has the patience of a saint and the ability to control a room with  barely a whisper. She is loving and truly interested in her children. She believes "there is not a better job anywhere" and the children sense that and respond in kind. She loves "seeing the children learn, grow and gain confidence" and loves knowing that she's a part of it. We are just as glad that Miss Bev is a part of Cherished Children! 

Miss Raquel

Infant Room Teacher/Administrator

Miss Raquel has been a valued teacher at Cherished Children for 9 years. She is known for her bright smile and bubbly personality. She has an uncanny ability to connect with infants and their parents and is always happy to share her knowledge, experience and expertise with the parents and staff. She enjoys seeing the babies experience new things and loves and respects them each as the little individuals they are. Miss Raquel feels her life is blessed with 3 beautiful children and a wonderful husband of 16 years! Cherished Children feels blessed to have Miss Raquel as part of its family.

Miss Bunnie

Discoverer Teacher

Miss Bunnie has been at Cherished Children for 15 years. She has a B.S. in Sociology. She loves working with kids because she wants to make a difference in children's lives. She loves the kids and the parents and feels that her good heart and love of children make her a good teacher. We love Miss Bunnie's spunk and her abilty to laugh at life. She is a valuable part of Cherished Children.

Miss Alanda

Adventurer Teacher

Miss Alanda has been at Cherished Children for almost 4 years. She is CDA certified. She loves working with children because it keeps her young. She brings patience, flexibilty and a sense of humor to work with her each day - and working with a classroom full of 3 year olds means she uses them each day too. The children love Miss Alanda's big heart and fun projects.

Miss Alanda recently welcomed her first grandson into the world - congrats Miss Alanda!

Miss Asiya

Tippy Tot/Munchkin Teacher

Miss Asiya has been in Early Childhood for 20 years, 4 1/2 of those being at Cherished Children. She has a Master's Degree in Special Education. Miss Asiya loves reading books, singing songs, doing art, and interacting with the children. She has a passion for helping kids develop language skills. She loves teaching infants sign language and watching them imitate her. She is a loving and affectionate teacher.  

Miss Nighat

Preschool Assistant

Miss Nighat is a preschool assistant teacher. She has been with Cherished Children for 11 years and worked with children in her home country, Pakistan, for 7 years before coming to the United States. She loves seeing the children learn and the hugs that they give her each day. We enjoy seeing Miss Nighats warm, beautiful smile lights up Cherished Children each time she works.  

Miss Rachael

Preschool Assistant

Miss Rachael is a Cherished Children alumni. She was in Miss Janice's class when she was 2-4 years old! She says Miss Janice had a big impact on her life and is now joyful to be working with her. Miss Rachael is a full time college student majoring in Education. She has been working with children for 4 years and has been at Cherished Children for just over a year. She loves watching kids learn and teaching them how to be a good friend. We are proud and happy to have Miss Rachael back on the other side of the easel - she is a reminder of why our jobs are so important!

Miss Sharon S.

Infant/Toddler Teacher

Van Driver

Miss Sharon has  been in the Early Childhood Education field for 9 1/2 years. She has been with Cherished Children a total of 7 1/2 years.  She recently returned to us after a short time in the business world. She missed working with the kids - seeing them smile and learn everyday. We are glad that she's back with us sharing her laughter and her warm heart.

Miss Robin

Accounts Manager/Administrator

Miss Robin has been with Cherished Children for 12 years. She spent the first 7 years of her Cherished Children career in the Infant/Toddler/Twos Rooms. Nowadays she can usually be found at the front desk - making schedules, paying bills, doing payroll, etc.  She misses being with the kids full time but tries to enjoy the few fleeting moments that she gets with them through out the day. She loves and appreciates all the staff, parents and children at the center and wants to do all she can to ensure Cherished Children is around to serve the community far into the future.  

Miss Sandra

Tippy Tot/Munchkin Assistant

Miss Sandra has been with Cherished Children for almost 2 years. She is just beginning the process of getting her CDA. She is a hard worker and is well loved by the children and her fellow teachers. Her beautiful, smiling face and gentle manner makes her a perfect fit for our Toddlers and Two year olds.

When not busy with her Cherished Children she has twin boys of her own that keep her running. 

Miss Gisel

Sub Teacher/Kitchen

At Cherished gone is never forgotten. Miss Gisel worked at Cherished Children for a number of years in the '90s and has recently returned to us. She brings with her a warm smile, over 15 years experience in early childhood education and the ability to speak multiple languages. We are happy to have her back with us!
